The maths of catching problems early
A loose tile or a small area of failed flashing is typically a job measured in tens of pounds and an hour of work. Left unaddressed, the same problem left to worsen over a winter can mean a soaked loft, damaged insulation, a stained and cracked ceiling, and sometimes structural timber that needs replacing — a job that can run into thousands rather than tens. The gap between catching it early and letting it become a real problem is almost always the size of the eventual bill.
What an inspection actually finds
A proper roof survey looks at tiles and slates for cracking or slippage, checks mortar and pointing on chimneys and ridges, assesses flashing and valleys for wear, and looks at guttering and drainage. None of this requires guesswork — a competent inspection will tell you clearly what, if anything, needs attention, and roughly how urgent it is.
When it's worth having one
A few situations make an inspection particularly worthwhile: buying an older property, so you know what you're taking on; after a bad storm; if your roof hasn't been checked in several years; or simply if something doesn't look quite right and you want a straight answer rather than a guess.
Our free callout promise
We offer free, no-obligation roof surveys precisely because we'd rather you know the real condition of your roof than avoid finding out. If we assess your roof and there's nothing that needs doing, we'll tell you that too — no callout charge, no pressure to find work that isn't there. You can book one through any of our service pages or the enquiry form below.
