Why chimney leaks are tricky
Water can enter through failed flashing, cracked pointing, a damaged pot, or porous brickwork, and it often travels before it shows up as a stain — the visible damp patch isn't always directly below the actual leak.
Our diagnostic approach
We check flashing, pointing, flaunching and the brickwork itself in sequence, rather than assuming the first visible defect is the cause, since chimney leaks are one of the most commonly misdiagnosed repairs.
Fixing it properly
Once we've traced the source, the fix might be as simple as re-bedding a section of flashing, or as involved as repointing and re-flaunching — we explain exactly what's needed before starting.
